Please kindly note that on the 12th October 2015 the Visa Information System (VIS) will be launched in Japan. VIS in an European system for Schengen short term visas, establishing a Common European database that also encompasses the capture of fingerprints of visa applicants.<\/FONT><\/P>

The capture of fingerprints is necessary only on the occasion of the first visa application and it will be valid for 59 months. The obligation stands also for visas issued on behalf of other Schengen Countries.<\/FONT><\/P>

The new procedures refer only to short term visas as well as they do not affect long-term national visas because the Italian rules nowadays do not encompass this requirement<\/FONT><\/P>
