Discorso dell’Ambasciatore d’Italia in Giappone Gianluigi Benedetti, in occasione della conferenza stampa di presentazione del World Nutella Day (Tokyo, 5 febbraio 2026)

Good afternoon Mr. Pirson, Mr. Whitesmith, members of the media, and distinguished guests, it is a pleasure to welcome you back to the Embassy of Italy in Tokyo for World Nutella Day 2026.

Today, we celebrate more than a beloved spread; we celebrate a global cultural icon.

Over the years, Nutella has become a bridge between Italy and Japan, weaving its way into the daily lives of Japanese consumers—from family breakfast tables to the creative workshops of professional pastry chefs.

This success is rooted in quality, sustainability, and social responsibility—values that reflect both Ferrero’s philosophy and Italy’s industrial heritage.

Seeing this ‘Made in Italy’ icon thrive in Japan proves that true quality is universal, showing how a heritage product can seamlessly become a part of different cultures while staying true to its roots.

World Nutella Day is our moment to honor these achievements and look forward to new, creative ways of enjoying this hazelnut classic.

I am now pleased to invite Mr. Pirson to share his insights and introduce our special guest.

Thank you, and happy World Nutella Day!”
