Address of the Ambassador of Italy, Gianluigi Benedetti on the occasion of the reception to celebrate Loro Piana ”Ginza Second anniversary” (Tokyo, 15 June 2022)

Welcome to the Residence of the Ambassador of Italy to Japan. Me and my wife Sabina are very pleased to host Loro Piana and to celebrate here at the Residence the Second Anniversary of Loro Piana flagship store in Ginza.

Allow me to greet and thank Nick Waddington, President of Loro Piana Japan, and Loro Piana team for the enthusiasm and passion they dedicate to one of the most representative Made in Italy brand.

Loro Piana represents the excellence of Italian Fashion industry. It is renowned in the world as synonymous of the best quality thanks to its artisanal manufacturing process, its highest quality standards and the use of the finest fibers.

We all know that Loro Piana is the world’s foremost processor of vicuna, one of the finest and rarest animal fibers in the world. These special animals live in the mountains of Peru and Argentina.

But Loro Piana has not ended its journey there. The source for the finest materials has literally led them to the four corners of the world to find out the finest merino wool, cashmere, cotton and linen, and they have managed to spin the thinnest yarns and create the most exquisite fabrics.

Their success and international recognition is based on their values: quality, passion for the environment, artisanal craftmanship, and research for excellence. This is true for all the three souls of Loro Piana textile production: clothing, knitwear, and furnishings.

To conclude, I wish to thank all the Japanese friends gathered here this evening. Your presence and support confirm the love for Italian fashion and lifestyle as well as the solid and long friendship between Italy and Japan.

I now leave the stage to Nick and I wish you all a very nice evening.
